PINEVILLE, La. (KALB) – UPDATE (12:26 p.m.) – The State Fire Marshal’s Office has confirmed to News Channel 5 that the fatal accident at the P&G Plant in Pineville was caused by an equipment explosion. The explosion killed the operator of the piece of equipment and the fire was contained to the equipment. The incident happened in the early morning hours of Thursday morning. No other injuries were reported.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office confirmed to News Channel 5 that a fatal accident at Procter and Gamble (P&G) in Pineville was caused by an equipment explosion. The explosion killed the operator of the piece of equipment and the fire was contained to the equipment.
Sources say the incident happened around 3 a.m. and multiple injuries were reported. All other workers have been sent home.

“We are deeply saddened to confirm that a member of the P&G Product Supply Family passed away at our Alexandria manufacturing facility in a tragic accident during the early morning hours of May 24, 2018. The safety of our employees is a top priority, and there is an investigation underway at this time. We are connected with the employee’s family and have expressed our deepest condolences. We will support them and all our Alexandria employees in this difficult time.”
